Bringing Up BabyBringing Up Baby is widely acclaimed as being one of the funniest screwball comedies ever made. It regularly features in the top 100 lists of best comedies from many organizations and you’ll quickly see why when you see the movie.

The movie was directed by Howard Hawkes and stars Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Charles Ruggles, Walter Catlett and Barry Fitzgerald.

The storyline features David Huxley, played by Cary Grant, who is a palaeontologist desperate to get a grant for his museum. The wealthy donor who he is trying to get the grant from has a niece, who is played by Katharine Hepburn, whom he meets. Bizarrely she has a pet leopard called Baby and that is just the start of the zany storyline. David loses a dinosaur bone from his museum and believes it has her dog that took it. When meeting up it doesn’t take long before she falls in love with him and the antics go from there.

Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant are fantastic in this movie and so are several of the supporting cast including Charlie Ruggles, Barry Fitzgerald and May Robson who each give outstanding performances. Together they create some of the most memorable scenes ever seen on the big screen. It is just filled with quirkiness and zanyness from the word go and doesn’t stop until the movie ends.

This special edition features the digitally remastered movie in a quality that is simply superb. If you like comedies then you must see this movie. If you like screwball comedies then this will be one of the best screwball comedies you will ever see. It’s a real must have movie that is an essential part of any collection.
