Many people consider this 1951 version of A Christmas Carol to be the best one ever made. It stars Alastair Sim as the well know miser Ebenezer Scrooge.
It was directed by Brian Desmond Hurst who did a superb job of focusing on his life story and the visitations he had. It also has the screen debut of Patrick Macnee who went on to play Steed in The Avengers. He plays a very young Jacob Marley. Continue Reading

When you think about classic movies, The Wizard of Oz is certainly one that fits very well. It was released in 1939 to the big screen but it wasn’t until it was shown on TV that it really became popular. This collector’s edition comes in unique packaging that is numbered to prove its authenticity. There is 16 hours of total content as well as 4 collectible poster cards.
If you don’t know the story of The Wizard of Oz, it follows a young girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto. Her house gets caught in the path of a tornado and it is swept to the land of Oz. She then meets a tin man, a cowardly lion and scarecrow who are all heading to meet the Wizard of Oz. The tin man is hoping to get a heart, the lion wants some courage and the scarecrow needs a brain. So Dorothy joins them in the hope that the wizard can help her get home. But there is an evil wicked witch who wants Dorothy’s ruby slippers and will do anything to get them. Continue Reading
